Martin Gagnon, Designer

Principal designer for AMBIANCES Lighting & Visual Design, Martin Gagnon has been a lighting designer for over 15 years. His main field of activity is architectural and museum lighting design. His curiosity and fascination for lighting lead him to research and develop in this field as well as to experiment new technologies and push their boundaries..

Martin is interested in the relationship between light and object. He uses light as a medium to reveal and accentuate; a way to play with senses, emotions and reactions. He considers light as a means to embellish an environment or to strengthen a perception and a message; a way to maximize contrast and the evocative power of a setting and to develop iconographical and descriptive languages. In fact, Martin is an atmosphere specialist and light architect. He cares about the importance and impact of light on the transmission of a message through an environment. His experience in staging, television and theatre, center his approach on the atmosphere to be developed. Martin possesses advanced technical experience in his field and is therefore able to communicate his ideas to all contributors of a project.

Martin's vision is interdisciplinary and is influenced by his participation in multimedia, graphical and architectural projects. He designed lighting for Robert Lepage and Richard Séguin as well as designed lighting for architectural purposes and for museums.
